The Tablet Show
Carl Franklin and Richard Campbell bring you the best minds in software development for tablets, phones, and mobile devices; covering WinRT/Metro, iOS, Android, and HTML/JS/CSS development

Carl and Richard talk to Bart Read and Kevin Boyle about building hybrid mobile apps using Cordova. Cordova is the Apache open source version of PhoneGap, which was purchased by Adobe a few years back. The conversation digs into a variety of products built to utilize Cordova, all with the goal of making it easier to build mobile and tablet applications across multiple platforms with one code base.

Bart (Software Engineer / Product Manager / Musician) has spent the past nine years building and thinking about tools to make developers' lives better – and not being shy to say when bad software “sucks his will to live”. He wants to create a slick, fast and simple experience for any developer building hybrid cross-platform mobile apps, and so he recently joined the team working on Nomad for Visual Studio. Because if he wants something done right, he generally has to build it himself.

Kevin (Software Engineer / Web Champion / Soccer player) is part of the tight-knit team working on Nomad for Visual Studio, one of Red Gate’s newest services. He is a staunch advocate of The-Web-as-a-platform, and was writing Single Page Applications before they were cool. He’s excited that more developers are seeing the power and potential of modern web technologies, and that hybrid mobile apps are bringing cross platform development within the reach of every software team. As far as he’s concerned, The Web is going to win.
